For Immediate Release David James Elliott, William H. Macy, Tate Donovan & Jon Cryer Among Celebrities Participating in the Race!!! Los Angeles, CA (August 26, 2003) – Tom Arnold joins the 17th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon, presented by Jeep, as emcee of the awards ceremony. Arnold joins a bevy of Hollywood’s brightest stars: David James Elliott (JAG), James Hyde (Passions), William H. Macy (Seabiscuit), Tate Donovan (The OC), Jon Cryer (Two and Half Men), David Chokachi (Witchblade), Eric Etebari (2 Fast 2 Furious), Felicity Huffman (Out of Order) Michael Newman (known from Baywatch), Emily Proctor (CSI: Miami), Phillip Rhys (Nip/Tuck), Chris Showerman (George of the Jungle 2), Jose Solano (Devil’s Knight), Mark Steines (ET), Mary Strong (FOX Sports Net, Best Damn Sports Show) and the cast of ABC/Touchstone’s Threat Matrix, among others. The race starts at 7:15 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF). This highly anticipated race expects to draw several thousand spectators to witness the fierce competition, as well as, enjoy a fun-filled day at the beach. The Nautica Malibu Triathlon, which also serves as the USA Triathlon Southwestern Regional Club Championship, features a ½-mile Pacific Ocean swim, an 18-mile bike ride along the Pacific Coast Highway and concludes with a 4-mile scenic run to Point Dume and back. The race takes place at beautiful Zuma Beach, providing spectacular views for competitors and spectators. Racers have the option to compete individually or as part of a relay team. Competing athletes are encouraged to bring their families and children to participate in the Nautica Tot Trot 50-100 yard dash, which is for kids ages 12 and under. The $10 entry fee and any pledges collected will be donated to the Foundation. The child who collects the most pledges will win a special Hero prize and the parents of the most philanthropic tot will be treated to a 2-night complimentary stay at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica. All participating children will receive a Tot Trot race bag, a commemorative race medal and race t-shirt. The Tot Trot takes place on Sunday, September 14th prior to the awards ceremony at approximately 10:00AM. Also, kids can come by to see the Pokémon-e TCG: EX Sandstorm Sandcastle Demo on Sunday. Registration is open to all. To register, visit www.nauticamalibutri.com. The fee is $85 for individual participants. Three-person relay teams are $110 per team. Registration postmarked after August 3rd will carry a $10 late fee. Registration will be available, if the event is not sold out, Saturday, September 13, 2003, from 1:00-5:00 PM on site. The race normally sells out at 2,000 participants. All non-USA Triathlon members will have to pay $9 for a one-day membership. Nautica, in its seventh year as title sponsor of the triathlon, has helped to raise more than $400,000 to benefit EGPAF. “We love the sportsmanship and camaraderie among the celebrities and competitors, for which this triathlon is so well known,” said David Chu, Nautica's founder and designer. “Returning to sunny California for this fantastic event is most certainly a highlight for Nautica.
