Spectator Info - Classic

Please join us at the Nautica Malibu Triathlon on Sunday, September 14th by cheering on your family, friends, or favorite celebrity in the event. The parking lot will close as soon as it fills, typically no later than 6:00 AM, so please arrive before then to ensure you don’t miss anything! If the lot is full or closed when you arrive try parking at Malibu High School, located at 30215 Morning View Road. Below are some great tips and activities for spectators to partake in while at the race.

White Message Board

Located in the Center of the Event Expo Area is a white board containing Wave Start Times, a Map of the Course, a Time Line of Activities, and Race results.

Event Expo Area

This area contains booths for the major sponsors of the events, such as Nautica,Toyota, Paul Mitchell, Arrowhead, Giant Bicycles and many more. Please visit the booths to check out what our sponsors have to offer! For example, you might like to get your hair cut at the Paul Mitchell booth or stop by the Toyota Engines of Change display.

The Expo area also houses the main award presentation stage for the event. The Fun Zone is also in the Expo area as is the registration headquarters for all kids racing in the Nautica Kids Run and Tot Trot.

The Bleachers at Zuma Beach

The bleachers are located at lifeguard tower 14 on the boardwalk. The transition area, which athletes will pass through multiple times, is located in the parking lot, directly in front of the bleachers. The bleachers are a great central location, they can serve as a meeting point, rest stop, or viewing spot. From the top row, spectators can turn to see the start of the race by looking south down the beach, and they can see the finish of the swim by looking north.

Spectators can then pivot back around to the transition area to see their family, friends, or favorite celebrity transition from the swim to the bike. Competitors will exit the transition area with their bike, heading south down the parking lot. If you look straight ahead beyond the transition area, in a few minutes, you will be able to see your competitor heading North on Pacific Coast Highway as he/she departs on the 18 mile bike ride on Pacific Coast Highway. While you wait for your competitor to return, you can view our many celebrities as they prepare in the transition area. The celebrity staging area is located in the southwest corner of the transition area, offering a perfect view for spectators sitting in the bleachers.

Keep an eye out for cyclists heading south on Pacific Coast Highway. You could see your competitor returning from the bike, and have enough time to get your camera ready by the time they arrive back in the transition area. Competitors will then embark south along the Zuma Beach boardwalk on the four-mile run to Point Dume and back. Spectators will not be able to see competitors on the run course from the bleachers. At this point, please make your way over to the finish line, which is located South of the transition area bleachers, beyond the event expo area. There are bleachers located at the finish line as well!
