Can I still register for the race once the Sunday, September 14th general race entries are sold out?
If you come out and volunteer Saturday morning for the Olympic Distance race we will allow you to register as an Individual racer for the rate of $125. Limited space available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No additional relay teams will be accepted.

If the event is sold out, can I be put on a wait list?
No. Once the event is sold out, we will not be taking any other entries or have any wait lists.

Can I still register for the race once the Sunday, September 14th general race entries are sold out?
Please e-mail mesp@mesp.com if you have questions

Can I check in on Sunday?
Yes, but we strongly recommend that you pick up your packet on Saturday. Sunday there will be long lines and waits, and the race will not start late due to late check-ins.

Can I sign up the day of the event?
If the event has not sold out, the remaining spots will be sold on Saturday. However, we do expect the event to sell out as it has in past years, so we advise you to register early.

I can bike and run, but I’m nervous about the ocean swimming.
We will be holding an ocean swim clinic on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 9am. Meet at Tower 9 at Zuma beach to get ocean swimming tips from Los Angeles County’s top lifeguards!

Do I need to wear a wetsuit?
Wetsuits are not required, but most people do choose to race in them. The water temperature is usually 67-70 degrees.

What is the mountain bike division?
The mountain bike division is for those people who are racing using a mountain bike instead of a road bike.  The width of your tires must be 1.75 inches or larger.  These tires can be smooth, knobby, or with tred.

Where do I view my photos from the race?

Do you offer refunds?
All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to other athletes.

If an athlete/team is unable to attend an event he/she can complete an event deferment form by August 31, 2008.  Once an athlete has completed the deferment form, they will automatically be removed from the 2008 database and cannot be added back into the database for any reason.

The deferment form will guarantee the athletes registration in the 2009 Nautica Malibu Triathlon ONLY if they register during the Deferral Entry Week in 2009. All deferred athletes will receive an email prior to registration opening in 2009 with specific instructions on how to register.

Deferred athletes must pay the 2009 early registration entry fee.

You WILL NOT receive a refund nor will your 2008 entry fee be transferred. There is no deferral fee.

Addendum:

For those registered athletes who might be interested racing on Saturday instead of Sunday, we would like to make you aware of a special one-time exception to our no-transfer policy.

There will be a 5 day transfer\grace period beginning on Monday, May 26th at 10:00 AM and ending on Friday, May 30th at 5:00 PM. No exceptions will be made after 5:00 PM Friday May 30th, for any reason. Please be aware the Saturday race will be a slightly different event – our focus will be on the course and the professional and age group athletes. Celebrities, Entertainment and Corporate Challenges, and our Donor Brunch will be featured on Sunday only.

To transfer, simply complete the event transfer from on the website and fax it to the MESP office at 818-707-8868, athletes will need to pay the difference between their registration fee paid and the new fee, plus a $5.00 service charge.

For example, if you paid $125.00 registration fee for the Sunday race, you will be charged an additional fee of $25.00 plus the $5.00 service charge for a total of $30.00. All USAT fees paid will transfer over.

Can I transfer my individual race entry to another person?
No, individual registrations MAY NOT be transferred from one person to another.  Relay teams may switch members and should contact mesp@mesp.com to do so.
